HSS provides an easily accessible and affordable analytical service for all your heritage artefacts. We use powerful microscopy, spectroscopy and other techniques to provide highly detailed information about the composition, construction and condition of the item.
We are open to all museum and academic institutions, other private organisations or just private individuals who require detailed information for research, education or general information purposes.
We are very competitively priced, charging £60 per hour + VAT, so that the cost of finding out about the science of your item should not be a barrier to learning.
We are wholly supportive of the National Heritage Science Strategy (NHSS) which follows the government’s belief that the understanding of the UK’s rich and diverse heritage will be enhanced by better use of science. The strategy aims to demonstrate benefits to the public and to make better use of research, knowledge and innovation.
